Technology It is always a challenge to locate the major water producing zones in a well, especially for ESP/Sucker Rod producing wells and Horizontal wells. Conventionally, PLT log can be deployed via E-line or a tractor through horizontal section to acquire flowrate, Water Holdup, temperature and pressure for each zone to evaluate the major water producing zones. However, for ESP/Sucker rod producing well, finding the major water producing zone is difficult due to Gas lift will be required to maintain the wellbore pressure system as it is in production
Tractor deployment through horizontal well is somehow risky and expensive
Low production well causes deviation in logging data
EverGreen invented a breakthrough technology to safely and economical locate the major water producing zones in either a vertical well, a high production well, a horizontal well or a low production well. A polymer tracer pup joint is deployed as a tubing sub and RIH together with tubing to top or bottom of each zones. Well returns to production. Samples will be taken on wellhead and sent to lab for analysis to evaluate the major water producing zone. Applying SHANIP and SHANWC models, water produced from each zone can be analyzed by the tracers concentration in the comingle sample. Normally, tracer pup joint can be installed during the tubing change and deployed to near zone downhole. Only tubing deployment is required without any packer or plug in the string. Deployment and testing is safe and no rig time. Once major water producing zone is identified, PGS sealant will be pumped through tubing and squeezed into the high permeability water channels or formation at the major water producing zone. Once PGS gets crosslinking, it will shut off the water channel or permeation. Well water cut will be greatly reduced and oil production comes back. |
